On one side, Pissarro has used pencil and ink to experiment with different studies of a woman in a variety of poses. On the other, there are two different landscapes. While the first side shows Pissarro’s keen observations and wanting to capture a moment, the two views of the island reveal his early interest in depicting the figure within the landscape.
