Shani Rhys James’ exciting multi-media installation Florilingua will be on show at the Wales Millennium Centre from 21st June – 25th August.
Florilingua is a specially created room filled with wild painted wallpapers and menacing chandeliers. Giving a voice to the room, seven poets have worked with Rhys James to write unique pieces in response to the room’s interior. These poems are played on a small video screen in the room to create a dialogue between paint and word on issues of domesticity, the relationship between women and the home and what the places in which we live say about us.
The responding poets are Carol Ann Duffy, Gillian Clarke, Menna Elfyn, Jasmine Donahaye, Amy Wack, Pele Cox and Patrick Christopher Kavanagh.
